BUYING A NEW COMPUTER

As a UMW student, you'll find that the use of a computer is essential to a successful academic career. You'll use your computer to access the Internet, search the library's electronic resources, register for classes, check your grades, write papers, prepare presentations, and communicate with others. Indeed, digital communication via computers is now the rule rather than the exception for teaching and learning at UMW. For example, most faculty rely on email as one particularly effective way of communicating with their students, and many instructors post class materials, run discussion forums, and link to other learning resources in Blackboard, our course management system.

The University partners with several vendors including Apple, Dell and Toshiba. These vendors provide discounts to UMW students when they purchase computers that meet the University's specifications. Your UMW Bookstore manages this partnership with the vendors.
