2006 Limited Edition Ornament
- A new architectural feature on the University of Mary Washington campus is the 88 foot bell tower centered at the end of Double Drive near George Washington Hall.
- Designed in the Georgian Revival style with red brick and white trim, the Centennial Campanile is a gift to the University from John Chappell and his family.
- The tower features a complement of bronze bells cast in Annecy-le-Vieux, France, and it is named in memory of Carmen Culpeper Chappell to commemorate her love of learning, her enthusiasm for architecture and her perpetual optimism for the future.
- The Centennial Campanile is a focal point for students and visitors to campus, and it stands as a symbolic link between the past, the present and the future of the University of Mary Washington.
